CommonPlan — browser party games interface

01 / Challenge

Start playing without installing an app.

Players need to join a shared session quickly from their phones. The shared screen shows game progress, while personal interfaces handle each player's answers, actions and information.

A single platform supports different mechanics: short answers and voting, bluffing, negotiation and collaborative storytelling.

02 / How it works

One room.
Different perspectives.

  1. 01 / HostCreate a room

The host selects a game and opens the shared screen in a browser.

  2. 02 / JoinConnect phones

Players join with a code or QR, without registration or installation.

  3. 03 / PlayPlay together

Answers and votes arrive from smartphones; stages and results appear on the shared screen.

03 / Technical delivery

The server runs the game. Clients handle actions.

Node.js and Socket.IO connect the shared screen with smartphones. The server maintains room state, controls stages and timers, processes actions and sends updates to players.

Role-based data separation keeps personal information off the shared screen. Reconnection restores a player's access to the current session.

Responsive shared-screen and phone interfaces use HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
